How To Prepare Your Online Business For AI

What if the key to thriving in an AI-driven world lies not in technology, but in human connection?" On the latest episode of the Jason Moss Show, I open up about my personal journey of battling cancer and the profound impact of a compassionate doctor who truly saw me for who I am. As AI continues to transform our lives and businesses, I argue that maintaining intimacy and authenticity is more crucial than ever. You’ll discover three actionable strategies to foster genuine relationships, ensuring your business remains a beacon of human connection amidst rapid technological change.

In a market flooded with AI-generated content, standing out requires more than just data-driven strategies. I share my story of growing a business from $4,728 in my first year to over $500,000 annually, all by embracing authenticity and vulnerability. Inspired by Simone Grace Seol, we explore how emotional risk-taking in storytelling can magnetize audiences and create a compelling brand presence. Tune in to learn how prioritizing one-on-one connections over content can lead to significant sales, and why I've shifted my business model to focus on deeper, more fulfilling client relationships.

00:00:03.084 --> 00:00:10.365
Welcome to the Jason Moss Show, where established online business owners go to increase their income, freedom and impact.

00:00:10.365 --> 00:00:12.310
I'm your host, jason Moss.

00:00:12.310 --> 00:00:13.473
Let's dive in.

00:00:13.473 --> 00:00:17.190
How do you prepare your online business for AI?

00:00:17.190 --> 00:00:22.548
This is a question that so many online business owners, myself included, are asking themselves right now.

00:00:22.548 --> 00:00:47.198
It's probably one of the most important questions you could possibly ask, and if you've ever wondered what AI means for you how to make sure your business will continue to be successful as our world changes dramatically and this technology continues to make its way into every aspect of our lives this episode is for you, into every aspect of our lives.

00:00:47.198 --> 00:00:47.978
This episode is for you.

00:00:47.978 --> 00:01:15.781
I wanna share with you a very powerful idea that I think is really at the core of what it takes to continue to be successful in online business as we head into a very different world, and three very specific ways you can integrate that in your business right now to make sure you will continue to be successful, you continue to make money, sign clients, and that you can even grow as you harness and take advantage of this superpower that's going to become increasingly more important as we head into this brand new world.

00:01:15.781 --> 00:01:18.367
So excited to dive in On a personal level.

00:01:18.727 --> 00:01:21.682
I am recovering from COVID, so if I sound sick, it's because I am.

00:01:21.682 --> 00:01:27.165
But this idea came to me it was like the middle of the night, I think two nights ago, and I just knew I had to record it.

00:01:27.165 --> 00:01:28.671
So I'm excited to offer this to you.

00:01:28.671 --> 00:01:35.322
But if I sound a little bit like mellow and a little bit you know, kind of I don't know sick, it's because I'm sick.

00:01:35.322 --> 00:01:36.643
So that is what it is.

00:01:36.643 --> 00:01:41.609
So I want to introduce this idea by sharing with you a personal story.

00:01:42.031 --> 00:01:58.769
When I was 21, I was diagnosed with cancer and I was a junior in college, about to start my senior year at NYU, studying music, and just in the course of a few months, my entire world basically got turned upside down.

00:01:58.769 --> 00:01:59.953
I was super sick.

00:01:59.953 --> 00:02:15.168
I ended up fainting in my mom's arms and later ended up in a doctor's office and found out I had Hodgkin's lymphoma, which is a kind of like a blood cancer similar to leukemia, and it was pretty advanced when they found it.

00:02:15.168 --> 00:02:35.662
And so really in the course of a very short period of time, my world went from I was going to start my senior year at NYU with all my friends to deferring my last year of college, moving back home with my mom and starting chemo and radiation and later a bone marrow transplant.

00:02:35.662 --> 00:02:38.870
It was an extremely challenging, difficult period of my life.

00:02:38.870 --> 00:02:42.063
I mean, that's an understatement it was the hardest thing I've ever been through.

00:02:43.165 --> 00:02:52.012
But I remember that first moment when I went to Stanford Hospital which is where I ended up getting my treatment and I met with this doctor.

00:02:52.012 --> 00:03:02.703
Her name was Dr Advani and I was terrified at this point because I had seen other doctors and I'd been shuffled around through the medical system and every time I would go into a doctor's office it was like no one saw me.

00:03:02.703 --> 00:03:04.885
No one actually saw what I was going through.

00:03:04.885 --> 00:03:08.311
I was just a chart, I was a set of vitals, I was a PET scan.

00:03:08.311 --> 00:03:12.081
It felt like the most inhuman, impersonal thing.

00:03:12.081 --> 00:03:14.788
And here I was in the middle of all of it.

00:03:14.788 --> 00:03:18.704
But I would go into these doctor's offices and it was like they wouldn't even see me.

00:03:18.704 --> 00:03:27.132
But I remember going to Stanford and I was terrified to be there because I didn't want to meet another doctor, because every doctor I would meet would tell me more things I didn't want to know.

00:03:27.132 --> 00:03:30.003
But I remember this doctor, dr Advani.

00:03:30.003 --> 00:03:55.963
She came in and one of the first things she did was she grabbed one of those swivel chairs and she sat down and she brought her chair right up to me and she looked me in the eyes and she grabbed my hands and she said I'm sorry, this is happening to you and I can't describe to you like what that moment did for me, like on a personal level.

00:03:56.044 --> 00:04:01.313
Being seen like that at that period of my life changed everything.

00:04:01.313 --> 00:04:30.093
That moment of intimacy, that moment of connection, that moment that wasn't about my treatment or about the right next steps for my medical care, that moment of human connection, that moment of intimacy changed my life and it was also the reason I decided to move my treatment to Stanford, because I was actually seeing another doctor before I went to Stanford.

00:04:30.093 --> 00:04:31.940
I went to Stanford to get a second opinion.

00:04:31.940 --> 00:04:34.045
This is not an ad for Stanford, by the way.

00:04:34.045 --> 00:04:35.730
I think they're a great hospital.

00:04:35.730 --> 00:04:44.494
But the thing that really changed the game for me was not that I felt like they had better treatments.

00:04:44.494 --> 00:04:45.605
I mean, I think they did.

00:04:45.605 --> 00:04:55.600
That was a part of it but at the end of the day, the thing that really moved the needle for me was that moment of intimacy and that moment of connection where someone else just made me feel seen and heard and understood.

00:04:56.180 --> 00:05:22.434
Intimacy and what I believe the core idea I want to share with you in this episode today is that, in an increasingly AI world, in a world where more and more of our humanity is being replaced by interactions with machines, I remember a time when I used to go to the grocery store and you'd go to like a checkout aisle and you'd have people actually like scan your groceries.

00:05:22.434 --> 00:05:27.230
And now, whenever I go to the grocery store, it's like they got the automated checkouts and I don't know.

00:05:27.230 --> 00:05:27.732
You know, it's like.

00:05:27.732 --> 00:05:32.550
This is our world and I'm not placing a value judgment on it.

00:05:32.550 --> 00:05:34.182
I think in many ways, it's a good thing.

00:05:34.182 --> 00:05:47.920
It's freeing us up as human beings, to focus on more creative things, on things that are higher leverage uses of our talents and capacities and resources, things that are higher leverage uses of our talents and capacities and resources.

00:05:47.920 --> 00:05:54.855
But it's also creating this void, this void of true intimacy.

00:05:54.855 --> 00:06:00.538
One of the most important things that we value as human beings is the ability to feel seen and heard and understood.

00:06:00.538 --> 00:06:08.451
I often talk about this when I teach marketing and I work with my clients, because if I had to sum up marketing in like one phrase.

00:06:08.451 --> 00:06:11.800
It's make somebody else feel seen and heard and understood.

00:06:11.800 --> 00:06:16.074
Why do we talk about pain points when we write copy?

00:06:16.074 --> 00:06:22.468
Well, it's because when someone else is experiencing those things and they see those pain points, they go, wow, this person gets me.

00:06:22.468 --> 00:06:36.264
And when I talk about struggling to attract consistent leads or clients and how difficult that can be in your business, if you're in that place right now and you hear that, you're like, wow, I feel like someone actually understands what I'm going through.

00:06:36.264 --> 00:06:46.206
That ability to make somebody else feel seen and heard and understood really is at the core of all great marketing, that moment of intimacy and connection that's created through that.

00:06:46.206 --> 00:07:04.894
But we look at our world and you know, to me, what I see is more and more of our humanity being outsourced and replaced by AI, by machines, by robots and again, not passing a value judgment on that, but what I am saying is that that moment creates a void of true intimacy.

00:07:04.894 --> 00:07:07.168
But what I am saying is that that moment creates a void of true intimacy.

00:07:08.410 --> 00:07:12.576
There's a loneliness epidemic in our country, in the United States, right now.

00:07:12.576 --> 00:07:14.524
Many people have talked about this.

00:07:14.524 --> 00:07:20.264
People are feeling lonelier than ever before and it's not surprising to me why that is the case.

00:07:20.264 --> 00:07:27.074
But in that void as entrepreneurs, what I see is an opportunity.

00:07:27.074 --> 00:07:37.495
What I see is a new way of doing business and a value system that is shifting and a need that is increasingly unaddressed.

00:07:37.495 --> 00:07:51.122
And if you can harness that need and you can meet that need in your business, you will be more successful heading into the new world.

00:07:51.201 --> 00:07:52.204
And what is that need?

00:07:52.204 --> 00:07:55.281
Well, quite simply, it's the need and the desire for intimacy.

00:07:55.281 --> 00:08:07.502
In a world where we increasingly have less intimacy, we want it and we crave it more, because it's really at the core of what it means to be human.

00:08:07.502 --> 00:08:39.552
So, the more that you can make intimacy the thing and I'll talk about in a few minutes here how to do that in your business the thing that's really at the center of everything that you do, the top value, the thing that you build your business around, what I believe is, as we move in to an increasingly AI world, this is the real currency that's going to separate you, that's going to allow you to stand out In a world where anyone can go into chat, gpt and type.

00:08:39.552 --> 00:08:49.581
You know, write me a 500 word blog post or social media post on XYZ and it can churn out stuff that is, honestly, pretty decent.

00:08:49.581 --> 00:08:53.649
What's going to allow you to stand out in that kind of a world?

00:08:53.649 --> 00:09:02.904
It's intimacy, it's humanity, it's the ability to bring you fully into your business and also to truly connect with somebody else and to make them feel seen.

00:09:02.904 --> 00:09:08.520
So this is the core idea of this episode today.

00:09:08.942 --> 00:09:18.389
This is really what I want to share with you, and, in order to do this, there are some very practical tools and ways that we can integrate this into your business.

00:09:18.389 --> 00:09:30.370
These are things that I've been thinking about and these are things that are behind some of the major shifts that I've made in my business over the past few months and that I will continue to make moving into the new year.

00:09:30.370 --> 00:10:04.495
So I want to talk about some of those shifts and share with you some real practical ways that you can integrate intimacy into your business and dial this up, because, again, I think this is the currency more and more as we move into this new world, the thing that's really going to separate you from other online business training, where I walk through a four-step roadmap.

00:10:04.495 --> 00:10:10.302
I've personally used to sell well over a million dollars of coaching, consulting and courses online.

00:10:10.302 --> 00:10:13.028
It's going to make the journey of growing your business so much easier.

00:10:13.028 --> 00:10:14.822
I want to give this to you for free.

00:10:14.822 --> 00:10:20.573
All you got to do to access it is go to jasonmosscom forward slash growth.

00:10:20.573 --> 00:10:28.682
That's jasonmosscom forward slash g-r-O-W-T-H to get free access to this training right now.

00:10:29.062 --> 00:10:30.046
Now back to the episode.

00:10:30.046 --> 00:10:31.610
A couple of areas I want to talk about.

00:10:31.610 --> 00:10:34.303
The first thing is intimacy when it comes to your marketing.

00:10:34.303 --> 00:10:46.030
Intimacy is the way that you stand out in today's world Again, in a world where anyone can go into chat, gpt and churn out how-to content a mile a minute.

00:10:46.030 --> 00:10:51.809
You know, it used to be like when I first started to do online business back in 2016,.

00:10:51.809 --> 00:11:01.889
You could do really well just making like how-to videos Like here's how to do this and here's how to do that, and here's three tips to help you with your diet and here's five tips to help you grow your business.

00:11:01.889 --> 00:11:03.346
That stuff would stand out.

00:11:03.346 --> 00:11:06.100
That stuff would stand out.

00:11:06.100 --> 00:11:06.802
That stuff would get views.

00:11:06.802 --> 00:11:12.187
But now, because we're in a world where anyone can create that content, they don't even have to know anything in order to do that.

00:11:12.187 --> 00:11:16.342
They can just go into chat, gbt and create that literally in 30 seconds.

00:11:16.342 --> 00:11:17.966
It doesn't stand out.

00:11:17.966 --> 00:11:21.874
So what do we value when it comes to marketing today.

00:11:21.874 --> 00:11:23.445
What we value is authenticity.

00:11:23.445 --> 00:11:26.361
What we value is a real human connection.

00:11:26.361 --> 00:11:33.095
What we value is the ability to feel like we are connected to another human being.

00:11:33.095 --> 00:11:34.442
That intimacy piece.

00:11:34.442 --> 00:11:39.134
That's the thing, that's the currency in marketing heading into 2025.

00:11:40.360 --> 00:11:41.847
So what does this look like in marketing?

00:11:41.847 --> 00:12:00.894
Well, the first thing is it looks like sharing a lot more of yourself, and I used to really struggle with this, because I used to have this idea that sharing and talking about myself was not what my ideal clients would want the people who are viewing, listening to my stuff, because they care about themselves, right, and they don't want to hear about me.

00:12:00.894 --> 00:12:02.134
Why would they want to hear about me?

00:12:02.134 --> 00:12:06.197
They want to hear tips and things to help them grow their business and all that stuff.

00:12:06.197 --> 00:12:37.988
But this started to shift for me over time, as I started to realize that me sharing more of myself would allow others to feel more connected to me so that they could learn from me, because no one wants to just listen to boring, bland, generic how-to content and if that's all my content is, I'm missing the opportunity to build that bridge that actually allows somebody to hear the how-to, to hear the value and, furthermore, me sharing my personal story myself.

00:12:37.988 --> 00:12:41.695
Actually, you know there's so many other things this does.

00:12:41.695 --> 00:12:47.072
It creates possibilities for other people, like when I share about my own business journey.

00:12:47.111 --> 00:12:51.044
I talk about you know how, my first year in business, I made an online business.

00:12:51.044 --> 00:12:55.394
I made $4,728 despite working six days a week.

00:12:55.394 --> 00:13:00.211
I was busting my butt trying to grow the business and yet, you know, I wasn't making much money.

00:13:00.211 --> 00:13:06.270
I was making a ton of mistakes and today, you know, I was able to grow that business not that business, I mean that business.

00:13:06.270 --> 00:13:07.331
I grew past six figures.

00:13:07.331 --> 00:13:20.774
But then, you know, through lots of trial and error and lots of messing up and mistakes I mean over almost 10 years I was able to get to a place where I could scale past $500,000 a year.

00:13:21.836 --> 00:13:27.052
I mean, when I talk about that journey, that's not just about me, that's about you.

00:13:27.052 --> 00:13:36.681
It's about you hearing that and seeing yourself in me and my own story creates a possibility for you.

00:13:36.681 --> 00:13:43.683
It creates a moment where, hopefully, you can say hey, regardless of where I'm at on that journey of growing my business.

00:13:43.683 --> 00:13:46.071
Hearing Jason's story is inspiring to me.

00:13:46.071 --> 00:13:52.388
It shows me that it's possible for me to do this too, even if I'm having a hard time right now, even if I'm not yet where I want to be.

00:13:52.388 --> 00:14:04.361
So I started realizing that sharing more of myself was not selfish, was not self-focused, but actually framed through the lens of how do I share my own personal story as a way of creating possibility for others.

00:14:08.645 --> 00:14:14.929
The other thing that's so powerful about sharing more of you is storytelling.

00:14:14.929 --> 00:14:21.254
Talking about your own life adds so much color to your content.

00:14:21.254 --> 00:14:31.041
In a world where everyone is creating bland, generic stuff that sounds exactly the same, the thing that's really unique is your own story.

00:14:31.041 --> 00:14:35.269
Nobody could tell the story about me going through cancer.

00:14:35.269 --> 00:14:43.394
I mean, obviously other people have been through cancer, but no one could tell that story that I just told you about Dr Advani and how that changed my life.

00:14:43.394 --> 00:14:52.273
And I could have just started this episode and said, well, here's three tips to bring more intimacy into your online business so you can thrive in 2025.

00:14:52.273 --> 00:14:55.413
But that would have been like that's something that ChatGBT could have created.

00:14:55.413 --> 00:14:58.152
What's the thing that made this unique?

00:14:58.152 --> 00:14:59.294
It was that story.

00:15:01.265 --> 00:15:07.113
It also took a little bit of an emotional risk, and this is another piece I've been thinking quite a lot about.

00:15:07.113 --> 00:15:08.609
There's a mentor I love.

00:15:08.609 --> 00:15:09.753
Her name's Simone Grace Soul.

00:15:09.753 --> 00:15:12.495
She talks about this idea of taking emotional risks in her love.

00:15:12.495 --> 00:15:12.666
Her name is Simone Grace Soul.

00:15:12.666 --> 00:15:20.192
She talks about this idea of taking emotional risks in her content, how this is like the core thing that's underneath so much of what she shares and so much of what she creates in her marketing.

00:15:20.192 --> 00:15:25.253
She always asks herself this question am I taking emotional risks here, or how can I take more emotional risks here?

00:15:25.605 --> 00:15:30.812
When you're creating a piece of content, it's like you can create that piece of content and oftentimes I don't know about you.

00:15:30.812 --> 00:15:53.990
But when I'm writing an email or something like this, it's so easy to just write like the surface level stuff where I'm like shifting into like concept mode, where it's like three here's three tips to help you get more clients, whereas if I ask myself like what's an emotional risk I could take here, I could say something like hey, the last month in our business sucked.

00:15:53.990 --> 00:16:03.636
We hit our lowest revenue yet, for example, and it was because I made some pretty big mistakes in terms of like how I was showing up in my marketing.

00:16:03.636 --> 00:16:08.614
And I want to share some of those things with you and the lessons that I've learned to help you get more clients.

00:16:08.614 --> 00:16:10.605
Radically different piece of content right to help you get more clients.

00:16:10.605 --> 00:16:14.399
Radically different piece of content right.

00:16:15.345 --> 00:16:20.052
One piece is like concept, surface level drivel that, like anyone can create, and one piece actually takes a leap.

00:16:20.052 --> 00:16:21.977
It's vulnerable.

00:16:21.977 --> 00:16:25.789
That's the kind of thing that magnetizes and draws people to you.

00:16:25.789 --> 00:16:28.855
So we talk about this idea of intimacy and marketing.

00:16:28.855 --> 00:16:31.437
What I look at is how can I bring more of myself to the table?

00:16:31.437 --> 00:16:32.482
How can I take more of myself to the table?

00:16:32.482 --> 00:16:34.629
How can I take more emotional risks?

00:16:34.629 --> 00:16:40.082
How can I differentiate myself through dialing up who I am?

00:16:40.183 --> 00:16:43.289
I talk about this so often when it comes to teaching marketing.

00:16:43.289 --> 00:16:45.494
How are you different?

00:16:45.494 --> 00:16:46.355
Who are you?

00:16:46.355 --> 00:16:49.086
What is the unique thing about you?

00:16:49.086 --> 00:16:52.273
What are the things that you're afraid to share with people?

00:16:52.273 --> 00:16:56.139
Because you're afraid, if you tell people those things, they might not want to work with you.

00:16:56.139 --> 00:17:13.619
When I talk about my relationship with God or having cancer, or some of my beliefs around marketing that are polarizing, these are things that turn some people off, but also magnetize and attract other people to me.

00:17:13.619 --> 00:17:33.798
So the days of being this boring, bland, generic content creator, where you're just creating this surface level stuff that's for everyone, those days are behind us and in a world where AI can do that, where you can go into chat, gpt and create content that looks quote, unquote professional.

00:17:33.798 --> 00:17:35.691
That's just how to.

00:17:35.691 --> 00:17:36.653
Here's some tips.

00:17:37.226 --> 00:17:44.031
In a world where anyone can do that, we're just lost in a sea of it because it's so easy to create that, there's so much of it.

00:17:44.031 --> 00:17:45.256
So how do you stand out?

00:17:45.256 --> 00:17:49.394
It's humanity, it's intimacy, it's bringing more of you to the table in your marketing.

00:17:49.394 --> 00:17:52.273
That is how you stand out in today's world.

00:17:52.273 --> 00:17:54.828
So intimacy in table in your marketing.

00:17:54.828 --> 00:17:55.874
That is how you stand out in today's world.

00:17:55.874 --> 00:17:56.778
So intimacy in terms of your marketing.

00:17:56.778 --> 00:17:57.903
Taking those emotional risks I love that question.

00:17:57.903 --> 00:18:04.011
Just asking yourself that question when you're creating a piece of content, when you're writing an email, how can I take an emotional risk here?

00:18:04.011 --> 00:18:05.174
Love that.

00:18:05.174 --> 00:18:06.438
And that's a question from Simone.

00:18:07.505 --> 00:18:11.678
Number two, second area you might integrate more intimacy into your online business.

00:18:11.678 --> 00:18:13.584
Number two second area you might integrate more intimacy into your online business.

00:18:13.584 --> 00:18:14.005
Intimacy and selling.

00:18:14.005 --> 00:18:20.557
When you look at the sales process and how you sell, there's so many opportunities to create intimacy.

00:18:20.557 --> 00:18:48.269
And, by the way, this doesn't just mean you got to get on sales calls with everyone, but it does mean that, in a world where AI is really at the forefront of everything that we do, that moment of connection, that moment where someone can have a conversation with you and feel seen and heard and understood, or to just have that moment where they have that realization of like, oh, this is a real human being.

00:18:48.651 --> 00:19:02.071
As an example, in my business, one of the things we started doing we're testing this right now is for every single person that opts in to download my lead magnet, who gives me their phone number, you may have gotten these text messages.

00:19:02.071 --> 00:19:06.974
I'll actually reach out and I'll text them and I'll say, hey, you know, I saw you just opted in.

00:19:06.974 --> 00:19:18.240
I just wanted to say, hey, you know, I saw you were working on this very specific challenge, because when people opt in, one of the things they do is they tell me what their number one biggest challenge is when it comes to growing their business.

00:19:18.240 --> 00:19:21.755
And I say, hey, I saw you were working through this challenge.

00:19:21.755 --> 00:19:26.573
I wanted to share this free training that we have that will really help you with that.

00:19:26.573 --> 00:19:27.734
Hope this helps.

00:19:27.734 --> 00:19:28.876
That's it.

00:19:28.876 --> 00:19:30.160
No sales pitch.

00:19:30.160 --> 00:19:32.750
Here's a free piece of content directly from me.

00:19:34.532 --> 00:19:43.469
How rare and crazy is that like for, first of all, for a business to reach out without the intention of selling to you directly in that moment.

00:19:43.469 --> 00:19:45.972
That's a that's a nice thing.

00:19:45.972 --> 00:19:55.173
How magnetic is that when someone's like, hey, I just want to help you, here's a free thing, good luck, I'm rooting for you.

00:19:55.173 --> 00:19:57.978
How magnetic is that?

00:19:57.978 --> 00:20:10.310
And number two you to opt into some random thing online and then you actually get a text message from a real human being, not like a bot or an automation, but a real human being.

00:20:10.310 --> 00:20:12.453
How cool is that?

00:20:12.453 --> 00:20:14.797
And I've been getting the best text messages back.

00:20:14.797 --> 00:20:19.531
People are like, wow, I can't believe you took the time to reach out.

00:20:19.531 --> 00:20:21.412
It's so cool that you took the time to reach out to me.

00:20:21.412 --> 00:20:24.074
How can we do more of that in your business?

00:20:24.074 --> 00:20:26.268
So many people.

00:20:26.730 --> 00:21:16.191
What I find and I've experienced this in my business as I've scaled it's so easy to build a moat around you, to start to just be on this like mountaintop in your business where it's like, oh, I'm creating the content, I'm sending it out, and you know, I'm just going to kind of separate myself from everyone, especially as you scale and grow, because now you got group programs, you got other ways that are leveraged to be able to serve people, that courses, things like that, that don't necessarily involve as much of your direct time, and so what can happen in an online business after people are established is you create this moat around yourself and there's this separation between you and who you're here to serve, and what we don't realize is that bridging that moat is one of the most effective ways to make more money in your business Just reaching out, having conversations.

00:21:16.191 --> 00:21:27.809
I tell this story quite a bit, but I remember back in the earlier part of this year, I was running a retreat here in Boulder Honestly one of my favorite things I've ever done.

00:21:27.809 --> 00:21:41.214
We had just an incredible group of high level entrepreneurs there and it was two days of business mastery and just a really deeply moving experience, I think, for everyone, both on a business level incredibly valuable, but also on a personal level.

00:21:41.214 --> 00:21:45.513
There was some serious growth happening in that room and I loved the experience.

00:21:45.513 --> 00:21:54.711
I'd gladly do it again and I will at some point, and if you're on my email list, I will let you know, so make sure to subscribe on my website, side note.

00:21:55.211 --> 00:22:07.088
So we were running this retreat in Boulder here and I was working on selling spots for the retreat, and I remember I was on Instagram one day and I saw this guy who was harding all my videos and he never commented.

00:22:07.088 --> 00:22:07.611
He just harded everything.

00:22:07.611 --> 00:22:10.719
And I checked down his profile and I was like, oh, this guy looks kind of interesting, let me see what just hearted everything.

00:22:10.719 --> 00:22:15.313
And I checked down his profile and I was like, oh, this guy looks kind of interesting, let me see what he's up to.

00:22:15.313 --> 00:22:17.366
So I sent him a message, a DM, on Instagram.

00:22:17.366 --> 00:22:19.813
I said, hey, I saw your heart and all my stuff.

00:22:19.813 --> 00:22:21.786
Your name keeps popping up on my feed.

00:22:21.786 --> 00:22:23.589
I just want to say hi, that's it.

00:22:23.589 --> 00:22:26.075
No sales pitch, just hello.

00:22:26.075 --> 00:22:26.936
No agenda.

00:22:26.936 --> 00:22:30.318
I mean, I guess there was like 20% of me that had an agenda.

00:22:30.318 --> 00:22:37.041
I was like, oh, maybe there's an opportunity here, but 80% was just like let me just like send him a message with no ulterior motive and see what happens.

00:22:37.041 --> 00:22:43.150
And he wrote back and he was like I've been watching all your stuff, I love your videos and you know thanks so much for all this stuff.

00:22:43.150 --> 00:22:44.795
And I was like, okay, this guy's pretty warm.

00:22:56.325 --> 00:22:56.910
So I started asking him some questions.

00:22:56.910 --> 00:22:57.499
I said tell me a little bit more about, like, what you're up to in your business.

00:22:57.499 --> 00:22:58.184
And he started sharing about that.

00:22:58.184 --> 00:22:59.017
And I asked him about his goals and then, as he's sharing.

00:22:59.017 --> 00:23:00.422
I thought, hey, we have this offer that we're about to launch in two weeks.

00:23:00.422 --> 00:23:00.696
It's not even live yet.

00:23:00.696 --> 00:23:02.595
We don't even have a live sales page, but I think this would be perfect for him.

00:23:02.595 --> 00:23:04.916
And so I sent him a link to the sales page.

00:23:04.916 --> 00:23:05.856
That was like a draft.

00:23:05.856 --> 00:23:09.400
I was like this is not even published yet, but I think this is really good for you.

00:23:09.400 --> 00:23:10.319
I think you should sign up for this.

00:23:10.319 --> 00:23:18.089
And two days later I wake up, open my inbox and I got a sale email from our payment processor $2,500 sale.

00:23:18.089 --> 00:23:26.333
And then, a day or two after that, I was thinking I was like this guy should come to our retreat as well, and I wrote him a DM back.

00:23:26.333 --> 00:23:28.953
I said, hey, man, you should definitely come to our retreat too.

00:23:28.953 --> 00:23:36.547
We're doing this in like two weeks.

00:23:36.547 --> 00:23:37.269
I think you'd be a great fit for it.

00:23:37.269 --> 00:23:38.051
And then he signed up for the retreat.

00:23:38.051 --> 00:23:42.005
This is like $5,000 sale and like literally a couple of days just from reaching out, from that moment of intimacy and connection.

00:23:42.185 --> 00:23:44.315
And people don't do this in a, in a business.

00:23:44.315 --> 00:23:59.051
The biggest reason they don't do this is because it's vulnerable, because it's so easy to just be in your moat all day and just create content all the time, just be like I'm just gonna create content and send content and try to do my content the best that it can be and content's great.

00:23:59.051 --> 00:24:00.546
I'm not knocking content, obviously.

00:24:00.546 --> 00:24:01.731
I'm creating content right now.

00:24:01.731 --> 00:24:05.371
It's a valuable part of growing a business, but it's not the only thing.

00:24:05.371 --> 00:24:15.731
And in a world where there's so much content, the thing that I think is the real opportunity for so many people is that intimacy in sales.

00:24:15.731 --> 00:24:19.776
It's how can you open up one-to-one conversations, how can you engage with people on a personal level?

00:24:19.776 --> 00:24:33.873
And, by the way, the big secret about this is that this doesn't always have to be through the lens of how do I sell in this moment, being a human being, just reaching out to someone who's been following you and saying, hey, I saw that post that you wrote.

00:24:33.873 --> 00:24:34.875
I thought it was really good.

00:24:34.875 --> 00:24:36.792
I just want to say awesome job.

00:24:38.046 --> 00:24:47.239
Or engaging on other people's content, or just saying hi and playing the long game and building relationships and just being a human being.

00:24:47.239 --> 00:24:55.890
It's amazing how we've almost like we've got to rewire our brains to do this.

00:24:55.890 --> 00:25:01.653
It's actually the most natural thing in the world, but most of us in online business particularly if you've been in online business.

00:25:01.653 --> 00:25:04.994
For a while, this has been like deprogrammed out of you.

00:25:04.994 --> 00:25:14.461
Seen through this lens of conversion and so many online business owners I mentor, this is a thing that we're dismantling.

00:25:14.461 --> 00:25:17.823
It's not that conversion is wrong or that we shouldn't sell.

00:25:17.823 --> 00:25:26.531
It's just that humanity, that moment we talk about attraction and marketing, how do we get people who are actually magnetized to us?

00:25:26.531 --> 00:25:31.434
A lot of it is just by being a real human being and engaging with someone.

00:25:31.434 --> 00:25:45.198
Without that lens of how do I convert them in this moment, how refreshing is it to just get a message from someone who you can tell is not trying to sell to you in that moment, but it's just saying hey and just making a connection.

00:25:45.198 --> 00:25:55.855
That person's so much more likely to want to come back and work with you, that person's so much more likely to pay attention to you, just because that's so rare in our world today.

00:25:55.855 --> 00:26:09.286
So intimacy and selling, talking about outreach, talking about one-to-one conversations, doing what doesn't scale, so powerful in an increasingly AI world.

00:26:09.286 --> 00:26:18.294
And that brings us to the third area I wanna talk about when it comes to intimacy, which is intimacy in your offers.

00:26:20.401 --> 00:26:49.184
A few weeks ago, I made a radical decision in our business after almost three years of running my core group coaching offer, an offer that had taken 140 plus clients through it in various different capacities, and an offer that had generated probably 90% of the revenue in my business had generated probably 90% of the revenue in my business maybe not 90%, but close to it.

00:26:49.184 --> 00:26:52.571
I mean over $750,000 I had generated through that offer.

00:26:52.571 --> 00:27:19.720
I pulled the plug on it, not because it wasn't working, but because I'm drinking the Kool-Aid when it comes to this conversation about intimacy and I literally made the decision to shut down that group offer and Transition my entire business to one-to-one, to selling one-on-one coaching, which doesn't scale, which Many people will tell you is like the dumbest decision you could ever make.

00:27:19.720 --> 00:27:25.138
Why would you do that when you had like a leveraged group program where you could serve so many people at once and you only had to get on like two or three calls a week?

00:27:25.138 --> 00:27:27.501
Why would you do that when you had like a leveraged group program where you could serve so many people at once and you only had to get on like two or three calls a week?

00:27:27.501 --> 00:27:27.916
Why did I do that?

00:27:28.902 --> 00:27:30.692
Well, there's a couple of reasons why.

00:27:30.692 --> 00:27:33.403
Number one, on a personal level, I just think it's a better way to serve people.

00:27:33.403 --> 00:27:38.780
Number two, because I'm shifting my business model from this more.

00:27:38.780 --> 00:27:54.413
I don't want to use the phrase churn and burn because I hate that and I never really saw it that way, but the reality is when you're running a larger group program where there's not as much intimacy, people come in, they maybe stay for six months, then they leave, versus a one-to-one offer.

00:27:54.413 --> 00:27:57.450
When I look at my one-to-one clients, they stick around for so much longer.

00:27:57.450 --> 00:27:59.567
It's a better experience for clients.

00:27:59.567 --> 00:28:08.136
So I shifted the model from this like churn and burn thing to like how do I build long-term relationships, more intimacy, more depth, more connection with a smaller number of people?

00:28:09.005 --> 00:28:27.683
Because I see, as we move towards the future, in a world where anyone Can basically go on chat, gbt and have a personal coach and at some point, by the way, that's going to be as good, if not better, than most business coaches out there or business consultants out there.

00:28:27.683 --> 00:28:31.067
And I say this not to scare you.

00:28:31.067 --> 00:28:33.729
I mean, I just say that this is the reality that we're moving towards.

00:28:33.729 --> 00:28:38.251
Like, what is the thing that's actually going to get people to want to work with me?

00:28:38.251 --> 00:28:47.298
It's not more content, it's not even necessarily like getting answers to their questions.

00:28:47.298 --> 00:28:50.384
It's that intimacy piece.

00:28:50.384 --> 00:28:54.752
It's the ability for me to just say, hey, I see you.

00:28:54.752 --> 00:29:02.973
And for us to have a moment where I'm like this is hard for you, like you're not alone here.

00:29:02.973 --> 00:29:11.519
And, of course, there's a business aspect on top of that the strategy, the guidance, the ability to actually understand where somebody is and to.

00:29:11.519 --> 00:29:15.289
I mean there's so many pieces in that that I think are inherently human.

00:29:15.289 --> 00:29:24.953
But I think the intimacy piece is the piece that in a world where, again, we have less and less of it, people desire it more and more.

00:29:25.079 --> 00:29:29.288
And this has been a theme that I've seen over the course of my journey through online business.

00:29:29.288 --> 00:29:39.910
When I started in 2016, my first official coaching business online I was selling mostly courses and I made six figures selling courses.

00:29:39.910 --> 00:29:41.204
I mean it was a good business.

00:29:41.204 --> 00:29:45.304
When I look at what it takes to sell a course today, people aren't as excited about courses.

00:29:45.304 --> 00:29:46.888
It's not that people don't buy courses.

00:29:46.888 --> 00:29:56.701
It's just that if you don't have, like a community component or some kind of one-on-one that you're offering in addition to the course, people are just like, ah, there's so much information out there, like why do I need another course?

00:29:56.701 --> 00:29:58.382
Why don't I need another set of videos.

00:29:58.382 --> 00:30:02.246
So there's a desire for more intimacy, for more community.

00:30:02.246 --> 00:30:06.049
So people who are running used to run courses, online courses.

00:30:06.049 --> 00:30:26.619
Now they're doing courses like more of a hybrid thing, like what we were doing for a while, where it was like a course plus live calls and a community aspect with you.

00:30:26.619 --> 00:30:33.800
That's the thing that people will pay for more and more in a world, again, where this is so rare, where so much of that human connection is being automated and replaced by AI and all of that.

00:30:33.800 --> 00:30:36.866
So I see this as a competitive advantage.

00:30:37.489 --> 00:30:44.063
I see this as a way of differentiating myself, which is why I've made this strategic decision to shift our entire business to one-to-one Now.

00:30:44.063 --> 00:30:45.243
Will we do that forever?

00:30:45.243 --> 00:30:50.528
I don't know, but what I do know for sure is that this offer is truly unique.

00:30:50.528 --> 00:30:58.114
It's something that other people don't offer, which I have no opposition to and I often help people do that.

00:30:58.114 --> 00:31:17.028
It's just, if you're not including some kind of intimacy component in your offer in 2025, I think it's gonna become harder and harder to make sales and to stand out.

00:31:17.028 --> 00:31:25.329
So, looking at your model of delivery and asking yourself how can I dial up the intimacy?

00:31:25.329 --> 00:31:28.371
This could be including one-on-one calls with you.

00:31:28.371 --> 00:31:29.436
This could be, honestly.

00:31:29.436 --> 00:31:32.846
It could be having a support coach or someone on your team who's doing this.

00:31:32.846 --> 00:31:35.741
It could be one-on-one text message support.

00:31:35.741 --> 00:31:39.451
This is something I do with all of my clients and it's pretty scalable.

00:31:39.451 --> 00:31:51.955
This is the thing that I like about it is you don't have to be on calls all day, but you can still have that intimacy and connection with your clients in a way that helps them feel like they have that deeper touch point with you.

00:32:04.720 --> 00:32:06.749
A lot of online business owners, because so much of the advice out there is how do we create?

00:32:06.749 --> 00:32:21.770
And I've literally like two or three videos ago, I created a video on leverage and talking about how creating more leverage is one of the biggest keys to growing your business, and that is true, but the counter to that is sometimes doing the things that don't scale is actually the best way to grow your business, because those are the things that help you stand out.

00:32:21.770 --> 00:32:29.990
Those are the things that help create that moment of connection and intimacy with someone else, where you become a singularity in their mind.

00:32:29.990 --> 00:32:39.689
In a world where 99 out of 100 business coaches at my level are selling group programs, I'm one of the few who are selling one-to-one.

00:32:39.689 --> 00:32:42.167
That's a real strong differentiator.

00:32:42.167 --> 00:32:48.346
It may not quote unquote scale as much at least, but I can build a really successful business doing that.

00:32:48.346 --> 00:32:53.926
So, looking at your delivery, your offer, asking yourself do I have enough intimacy in there?

00:32:53.926 --> 00:32:55.471
How can I dial up more intimacy?

00:32:55.471 --> 00:33:16.174
How can I bring more of that intimacy to the table as a way of standing out, as a way of deepening the connections and relationships I have with my clients, as a way of deepening the connections and relationships I have with my clients, as a way of giving them the thing that more and more they really want Intimacy is really at the core of what it takes to grow a successful business in an AI world.

00:33:17.221 --> 00:33:23.804
It's the thing that is uniquely human, the thing that more and more is in demand, that people want.

00:33:23.804 --> 00:33:33.705
That will allow you to separate yourself as we head towards this future, where AI is going to play more and more of a role in everything that we do.

00:33:33.705 --> 00:33:36.386
And, by the way, does that mean you don't use AI?

00:33:36.386 --> 00:33:38.726
No, of course not.

00:33:38.726 --> 00:34:13.311
I'm using AI tools every single day in our business and, more and more, I'm excited about the potential of these tools to automate and to replace and to speed up so many of the things that I do to run my business on a daily basis, but there's also this other piece that's uniquely human, and we don't want to lose that in this conversation, and so much of what I believe it's going to take to be successful in the road ahead in your online business is the balancing act between these two things.

00:34:13.311 --> 00:34:20.277
It's leveraging AI in ways that make sense to speed up your workflow, to create more efficiency.

00:34:20.277 --> 00:34:40.047
Create more efficiency and dialing up the differentiator, the thing that's actually gonna separate you through your humanity, through that human connection, through just like that moment with Dr Advani, when she grabbed my hands and looked me in the eyes and said I'm sorry, this is happening to you, that moment where you can make somebody else feel that way too.

00:34:40.047 --> 00:34:43.545
So I hope you found this helpful today.
